Christmas Aussie Style

The sun beaming over head, with your bathers (swim suits) on, and the aroma of food cooking on the barbie is not the Christmas we have grown up with; however, this year, that is exactly what we are going to experience. We are off to Broome tomorrow for a holiday in the northern parts of Western Australia, and we are so excited to see all that we can :-)

We have learned SO much about the Australian culture so far and Christmas is just another adventure we are about to partake in.

Earlier this month we went to listen to Christmas carol's on the south bank. This was put on by our church. It was quite nice. We met our new, wonderful friends the Fourie's and had a picnic, it was so much fun.



We also experienced the Aussie Crackers. They are little prepackaged pressie's (presents) that you tear apart to open and when they open they make a loud cracking noise. Inside you find a cheap gift, a 'joke' and a paper crown. Apparently, EVERYBODY wheres these crowns during Chrissie (Christmas) dinner, including all of the posh peeps. Anyway, we had our own Christmas dinner with our small group last week to have the experience.

Friends of ours have made us authentic Aussie desserts, which are a new favorite of mine, and have just been so sweet inviting us to all kinds of dinners, but unfortunately with us going to Broome we will be missing out on those experiences.



The Fourie's are so precious and lent us a tree that they do not use. So we had somewhere to put our pressie's :-)

We pray that everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. May the Lord be present with all of you this holiday season. We are missing our families so much and are looking forward to our trip home in a couple of weeks. God Bless!
