Our first weekend in April, was our first weekend in our new home, a visit to a new church that we felt very at home in, and trips to shops to pick up 'bits and bobs' (as they say here) of things you just need when you move. Our second weekend in April consisted of the finalization of our car buying, a little bit of organizing, and a trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The museum is known as the world's largest museum of decorative art and design.
Everything about the museum was impressive, especially the programs they have established for the children. First we gathered a "backpack" (more like a satchel) from the children's information desk and we went on a search for certain items (ours was about animals) in the museum. This is a s clever way to keep the kiddos entertained and looking at the pieces on display, while giving the parents a chance to view (and read a little) about what they are looking at. Then we headed to a King Henry the IV "show". The girls especially enjoyed it since we had just been a weekends prior to Hampton Court where he had lived. King Henry did a brilliant job keeping the kiddos entertained and using them as a part of the story. It was so entertaining.
We also ventured down and their art this month was the option of making your own flag with your own crest on it or your own shield with your crest on it. Basically, you were meant to draw things that represented you, and the colors also all had meaning behind them. The girls really enjoyed this.
We could not leave this area of London without going to one of our favorite bakeries, Muriel's. Every time we come this way, we manage to pop in. It brings a smile to my face just thinking about this lovely little place.
