Saturday was Yanchep National Park, Sunday we headed to York and Fremantle, then today (Monday...we had a 3 day weekend due to the Queen's Birthday) we traveled around Perth, just getting to know the city a bit better. The more we explore and 'experience' Perth, the more we love it!
York is a small town about an hour and 10 minutes west of Perth. They were having a festival, so we enjoyed the music and food.
The above pic, is of lavendar flowers (sorry the pic is landscape and not portrait, I am still figuring out how this works). They are everywhere around York, and they have all kinds of products (lotions, oils, etc) in York. York is also known for their olive oil. Yummmm....We sampled lots!
We were also taken back by how much the land changed. One moment we would feel like we were in west Texas with the red clay and different colored limestone rocks everywhere, and then the next we would feel like we were back in Scotland with the rolling green hills decorated with sheep here and there. Below is a pic, the scenery just simply reminded me of back home, plus I love horses.
Sunday afternoon we then went to the Freo (Fremantle) markets, and had fun looking around, exploring, and buying things here and there.
Today, for lunch we headed out to Subi (Subiaco), which is an area of Perth with shops and nice places to eat. Then we were off to the Spindle top Swan Bell Tower, where Jeremy and I rang the chimes (apparently you have to be experieinced to ring the bells), and where we got to see some amazing views of Perth.
These were the chimes we were ringing from a room below, we had to pull on some ropes, it was fun..
